Albemarle High School rowing team shovel snow to give back

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) – The rowing team at Albemarle High School is creating a new type of crew.

The group formed “Snow Crew”, a completely free service for shoveling sidewalks and driveways for those who couldn’t do it themselves.

The recent snowstorm proved their work was necessary as they received dozens of calls. They say that because of the success, they are hoping to expand to more areas and have other teams to help them.

“I think this has definitely been a good way to put our things together and figure out how it’s going to go,” said Gabriel Duval, senior. “I feel like we’ve done pretty well, and you know, we all really want to do it, so every time an address is sent when we get a request, everyone jumps at the opportunity, because that we’re really excited about this. “

The students say they are happy to help and it also gives them something to do when they are not in school.

“It’s really good because you know we can all come together and do something that really helps someone,” said junior, Drew Lambert. “This is something the community needs and we are happy to provide it. “

If you need help from the snow crew the next time it snows, you can call 434-825-6639 or email [email protected]
