Bellarmine softball signs five signatories for the 2023 season

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Head Coach of Bellarmin Softball Renee hicks announced five signatories for the 2023 recruiting class, with players from Illinois and Kentucky.

Signatories include: Ellie Alvarez de Plano, Ill. ; Madison Davis of Smithfield, Ky .; Addison Kerr of Versailles, Ky .; Audrey Magnus of Chicago, Illinois; and Abbey Nesnidal of Algonquin, Ill.

“We are very happy to welcome our new class to the Bellarmine family,” said Hicks. “They are some of the best players in our region, and we look forward to seeing them grow and continue to raise the level of the program.”

  • Sister, Natalie, graduated from Bellarmine in the spring of 2021 after posting a career ERA of 4.27 in the circle for the Knights softball team.
  • 2019: Won the City of Chicago Public School Championship and helped the team achieve the first section victory in Chicago Public School history
  • 2021: third team All-State, All-Conference, .484 average, state led with 63 RBI, 13 HR

Nesnidal Abbey

Algonquin, Illinois

  • Class of 2022 at Harry D. Jacobs High School in Algonquin, Ill.
  • Four-year college softball starter
  • First year 2019 (.347 with 33 hits)
  • Junior Year 2021 (.457 with 48 hits and 5 homers, pitched 78 innings with 168 strikeouts and a 1.698 ERA, won the All-Conference at the Fox Valley Conference, Beacon News / Courier News All Area First Team and IHSA All-State Third Team).
  • Played five seasons of traveling softball with the Dennison Silverhawks where, in the fall of 2020, she had her best season with a 0.712 ERA in 59 innings, pitched with 84 strikeouts and hit .425 with a percentage of strokes of 0.740.
  • Abbey is a full time dual credit student at the local community college and will be completing her high school diploma and Associate of Arts degree before coming to Bellarmine to study accounting / actuarial science.
  • In her spare time, she is an avid reader, enjoys exercise and enjoys spending time with her toy poodle, Marley, and her rabbit Holland Lop, Peanut.
