Eight students from Surat education center tested positive for Covid-19, lessons sealed | Latest India News

One of the students at the tuition center had tested positive for Covid-19 on October 7, after which samples from each were tested for viral infection.

At least eight students from an education center in the city of Surat, Gujarat, have tested positive for coronavirus disease (Covid-19) after their samples were diagnosed. The school was sealed off as a precaution, an official told PTI news agency on Saturday.

One of the students at the education center, who attended classes regularly, had tested positive for Covid-19 on October 7, and as a result samples from all 125 students were tested for the viral disease. Among them, seven samples tested positive, said Deputy City Commissioner (Health) Ashish Naik.

This is the second time in October that an educational institution in Gujarat has reported an increase in Covid-19 cases. Earlier this month, a private school in the state’s Junagadh district was temporarily closed after a few students contracted the virus.

Even though Gujarat has succeeded in containing the coronavirus pandemic, many students have tested positive as educational institutions have started to reopen in the state.

Surat has so far reported 1,11,669 cases of infection and 1,09,975 recoveries. The city’s recovery rate currently stands at 98.48%. A total of 1,629 Covid-19 patients have died from the viral disease in Surat, according to the latest bulletin released by the municipality.
