Four Northern Alabama High School Soccer Players Named ASWA Award Finalists

ALABAMA (WHNT) – Four high school footballers from northern Alabama have been named finalists for the Alabama Sports Writers Association Back or Lineman of the Year awards.

Madison Academy had two players to make the cut. Senior RB Will Stokes was named the Class 4A finalist of the year and senior LB Deuce Spurlock, who signed to play at the University of Michigan, was named the lineman of the year finalist.

Stokes takes on Anniston’s DB / ATH Antonio Kite and Jackson’s QB Walter Taylor III. Spurlock faces off against Vigor’s DL Michael Towner and Williamson’s LB Robert Woodyard.

In Shallows, Koby Keenum, a junior at Mars Hill Bible School, was named the Class 2A finalist for Lineman of the Year. Keenum takes on Highland Home’s DL Keldric Faulk and Lanett’s DL Caden Story.

Decatur-Heritage Senior Brayden Kyle was named Class 1A Finalist of the Year. Kyle faces off against Pickens County RB / ATH Javion Belle and Sweet Water’s RB Jaland Lewis-Horton.

The finalists will be honored at the Player of the Year banquet in Montgomery on January 13. The winners will be announced at the banquet along with the Mr. Football prizes.
