PHS rowers travel to Wyandotte, Michigan.
WYANDOTTE, Michigan – The Parkersburg High crew team traveled to Wyandotte, Michigan to take on eight Michigan high school teams on Saturday, April 30 and placed second overall in the team standings as well as second place in the overall women’s standings. First place was won in the Women’s Novice Eight, Women’s Varsity Double, Women’s Novice Four B team. The Men’s Varsity Four and Men’s Varsity Quad also won first place.
The following rowers won a gold medal: Jade Poling, Courtney Wright, Abby Read, Rylin Weethee, Avery Cain, Emily Lane, Nevaeh Mason, Olivia Whaley, Clara VanFossen, Catherine Hayes, Megan Midcap, Madison Fette, Jonah Varner, Max Lauer, Dylan Khoury, CJ Higginbotham and Ryder Delong.
South wins Helen G. Albright Regatta
PARKERSBURG – The Parkersburg South Crew Team hosted the Navy Crew Marietta Tigers for a regatta on Saturday April 30 at the PSHS Boathouse on the Little Kanawha River.
First place boats for the South were Men 8+ (Owen Burris, Jakob Leisure, Landon Abilmona, Carrick Lough, Dalton Brookover, Drew Kirk, Ryder Adams, Masen Burkman and Keygan Freshour), Women HS 4x (Lucy Pratt, Erin Carmicle, Briella Goldenburg and Luna Spears) and the men’s 2x HS (Drew Kirk and Jakob Leisure).
Earlier in the month, on Saturday April 9, South beat rival PHS in the Helen G. Albright-City Cup Regatta. Rowers participating on the winning boats were Erin Carmicle, Brielle Goldenburg, Lucy Pratt, Luna Spears, Owen Burris, CJ Oak, Emilia Horton, Izzy Earley, Avery Burris, Abbie Courtney, Drew Kirk, Landon Abilmona, Masen Burkman and Dalton Brookover.
