CINCINNATI – It wasn’t her high school graduation that made Grace Macke cry, but rather, it was seeing her military dad for the first time in months because he was deployed overseas.
The high school graduate took the stage on May 16 at the Cintas Center at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio to receive her diploma.
He was then told that his father, Master Sgt. Drew Macke of the US Air Force pre-recorded a message.
The organizers played Master Sgt. Macke’s “video”, and his voice is heard in the arena, saying, “This is Master Sergeant Drew Macke calling from Doha, Qatar.”
No video is playing, however, and one of the organizers playing with the ruse by suggesting technical issues were to blame.
It was then that the sergeant took the stage and surprised his daughter.
The moving video of the moment was shared by the Kings Local Schools District.
This story was reported from Los Angeles.
