FORTVILLE – Mt. Vernon High School was recently listed as one of US News & amp; The World Report’s “Best High Schools” for 2021. MVHS is among the top 40 percent of the nation’s top high schools and is now ranked 36th in Indiana and 15th in the metro Indianapolis area. For this distinction, the US News & amp; The Global Report used data from the 2018-2019 school year. During that year, the attendance rate for Advanced Placement (AP) classes at Mt Vernon High School was 55% and the College Readiness Index was up 10 points from the previous year to 41.2. The college readiness index ranking is based on the proportions of older people who have taken and passed at least one AP exam. The national percentile of MVHS students on AP college exams was 88%. The graduation rate was 94 percent, on average several percentage points above the state median.
