The High School Baseball All-Star Game is back at Petco

In its first two years, the Padres High School All-Star Game was one of the most anticipated spring events.

Then the coronavirus pandemic struck, wiping out last spring’s game.

But with the removal of restrictions and the return to normal, play resumes, scheduled for Thursday, June 24 at Petco Park.

The 6 p.m. match will be preceded by a Home Run Derby at 5.30 p.m., a quick six-man show of power.

“This game, and the home run derby, showcases some of the tremendous talent in the San Diego high school baseball community,” said Padres general manager Erik Greupner. Whether it’s our showcasing the local high school baseball and softball programs on the wall of the CIF San Diego section in Petco Park, or providing the experience of a lifetime playing at a local baseball stadium. major leagues, the Padres remain committed to supporting our local athletes. “

The high school interactive display is located in the main hall on the side of third base and features all of the county’s schools.

The game is scheduled for nine innings and is an east-west format with Highways 15 and 805 the dividing line.

The first game of 2018 ended in a tie at 7-7 with Joey Magrisi (Torrey Pines), Devin Padua (Madison), Jack Dolak (St. Augustine) and Michael Campagna (Francis Parker) the stars.
