Unitek Learning has announced an educational partnership with a non-profit organization Banner Health to expand its Career Pathways for Essential Frontline Healthcare Workers program. The Career Pathways program supports employees currently working in areas such as environmental services, cooking and patient transportation who wish to move into essential frontline healthcare roles.

“People are at the center of everything we do and by investing in the future of our team members, we can continue to provide meaningful care together,” said Julie Ann Alvarado-Dubek, executive vice president of Banner. Health and Director of Human Resources. “Our Career Pathways program is a creative approach to helping our team members achieve their clinical aspirations, while simultaneously addressing the shortage of healthcare workers.”

Thanks to a $1.2 million workforce development grant awarded to the banner health foundation of Maricopa County, the Career Pathways Program provides a fully-funded experience for eligible team members to receive career counseling, job shadowing, education and support services to grow and transition into jobs in high demand.

Through this partnership, Banner Health employees can enroll in free medical assistance and sterile treatment programs at Brookline College. Students receive on-site instruction, have access to simulation labs and hands-on clinical training, and can complete programs through the Phoenix or Tempe campuses.

“An increased demand for a strong workforce has been highlighted by recent events,” said Karallyn Van Oosten, Vice President of Strategic Business Development at Unitek Learning. “Our partnership with Banner Health will allow Unitek Learning and Brookline College to be part of the solution. We want to help create the career-ready workforce an organization like Banner Health needs.
