Wayne Valley NJ football dominates Paramus Catholic in monumental victory

WAYNE – Danny Smith had three touchdowns, Gibson Nichols had three interceptions as Wayne Valley beat Paramus Catholic, 35-17, on Friday night.

The Indians became the first public school in New Jersey to beat one of North Jersey’s Big Six programs (Don Bosco Prep, Bergen Catholic, DePaul, St. Peter’s Prep, St. Joseph Regional, and Paramus Catholic) since Pascack Valley defeated DePaul 33-28 in 2012.

It was Paramus Catholic’s first loss to a New Jersey public school since 2010 (Northern Valley-Old Tappan).

The Paladins are now 0-2. Wayne Valley is 1-1. Both teams have byes next week.

The Paladins scored in the game’s opener on an 80-yard run from Jayden Beauchamp and led 10-0, but Smith turned the tide with a blocked punt and scored three touchdowns in six minutes to give the advantage. to the Indians.
